Grateful Patient Sings Praises and Gives Back

As a thank you for the care she received in 2022, Anita Gatti is ensuring future generations receive the same level of care by naming Princeton Medical Center Foundation as a beneficiary of her IRA. She informed us of her gift with a heartfelt letter describing her experience.

Dear Mr. Demetriades:

My name is Anita Gatti. I had total hip replacement surgery in The Jim Craigie Center on October 31, 2022. I am writing to you to express my gratitude for making every aspect of that experience truly remarkable!

After scheduling the surgery with POA, I received the Reclaim Your Life booklet in the mail. I found this so informative and comprehensive that I immediately read it twice!

I felt as if I had all the necessary information not only to answer most of my questions but to quell all the common fears. I also was encouraged to sit in on the virtual seminar, which was equally comprehensive and instructive.

The PAT experience was stress free. The intake receptionist was very patient and welcoming. The nurse who was apparently my case manager was calming and instructive. The phlebotomist was skillful, friendly, and conversant. The information nurse was caring and thorough. The anesthesiologist was supportive, probative, and comforting.

All of these gentle women told me, without provocation, that I shouldn't worry, "they would be taking very good care of me at the Foundation." And so they did! About two weeks prior to the surgery date, I was contacted by Princeton Home Health Services who had a walker delivered to my home.

The morning of the surgery we were greeted by the most charming and friendly nurse who guided us to my spacious and beautiful room, which she stated was her favorite. This wonderful nurse seemed to sense our natural apprehension and easily transitioned us to calm and peace. She explained everything so patiently that it almost felt as if I were at a spa about to undergo an expensive massage rather than major surgery. That's kindness.

Everyone who attended to me in the pre-op area was caring and patient. Before I knew it, I was in PACU and then back to my room. Even though I was still recovering and in substantial pain, I was aware that I was being well taken care of. At least two soft spoken people at a time would enter, attend to me, ask me if I needed anything, and quietly do whatever they were there to do. Attendants seem to come quietly to my room at least once an hour.

All of these attendants were outstanding. They all made me feel as if they were my very own private nurse. I even received a lovely thank you card from the SCU staff saying it was a pleasure caring for me and wishing me a speedy recovery—also an unexpected and warm gesture.

When I was discharged, I was given another booklet filled with valuable information regarding expectations, protocols, and precautions. Once home, I was fortunate to have three outstanding PTs come to my house and work with me. They were prompt and caring with a great deal of patience and expertise.

I have been truly satisfied with my experience with Dr. Vannozzi and his team. I am confident that with his expertise, I will make a full recovery with my new hip.

Subsequently, I have decided to name the Institute for Surgical Care as a beneficiary of one of my IRAs. I am so grateful for my optimal patient experience with the entire Princeton Medical Center Foundation and the Jim Craigie Center for Joint Replacement. Whenever I have the opportunity, I will continue to sing your praises.
